It was The Eagles hitting #1 for the second time, on this day in 1975, with "One Of These Nights." The song would stay there just one week.

On this day in 1980, Olivia Newton-John's "Magic," from the Xanadu soundtrack, hits #1. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award. The movie was not so well recieved, and got 7 Razzy nominations. 

Peter Cetera hit #1, on this day in 1986, with "Glory of Love," the theme song from Karate Kid II. It would stay there two weeks and be Cetera's first hit after leaving Chicago. 

On this day in 1991, living up to his most famous song, Rick James was arrrested on multiple charges, including sexual torture. He was released on 1 million dollars bail.

And finally, it was on this day in 1998, that The Beatles were named "Favorite Recording Artist Of All Time," in a poll conducted by the UK music magazine Mojo. Elvis was #2, followed by Frank Sinatra, Queen, and Elton John in that order.
