Let's start on this day in 1969. Sly and the Family Stone release "Hot Fun In The Summertime." It would hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Queen play their final concert with Freddie Mercury on this day in1986. An audience of 120,000 hears them close out with "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" and "God Save The Queen." Big Country was one of the opening acts that day.

On this day in 1995, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead dies from a heart attack eight days after his 53rd birthday. His unique guitar style got him ranked at #13 on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarist's of All Time."

Also on this day in 1995, the original members of Kiss play together for the first time since 1980, when Peter Criss and Ace Frehley join the current band to record their MTV Unpluggedspecial. The reunion is so successful that Criss and Frehley rejoin the band in 1996. The subsequent outing becomes the top-grossing tour that year.​
