It was on this day in 1965 that The Beatles played Shea Stadium. 56,000 screaming fans showed up to see the boys. Most of the songs the band played were drowned out by the crowd.

It was day 1 of Woodstock, on this day in 1969, with over 400,000 people showing up for the three day event. On a non-musical note, during the three days, 3 people died, there were two births and four miscarriages.

On this day in 1979, Led Zeppelin release their final studio album, "In Thru The Out Door." The sales would exceed 6 million here in the US alone.

It's 1981 and the #1 song is "Endless Love" by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. The song would stick at the top spot for 9 weeks, receive 5 Grammy Award nominations and an Academy Award nod. The movie would receive five Razzy Award nominations.

On this day in 1983, Paul Simon would marry Carrie Fisher of Star Wars fame. Penny Marshall would be the maid of honor.

And finally, it was on this day in 1992, Boyz II Men would hit #1 with "End Of The Road." The song would spend 13 weeks at No.1 and break a 36 year old record held by Elvis for longest run at #1. Here's some bonus trivia, the song was featured in the Eddie Murphy movie "Boomerang."
