We start way back in 1965, The Beach Boys would hit #3 with "California Girls." The song was written by Brian Wilson after his first LSD experience.

On this day in 1968, Tammy Wynette records "Stand By Your Man." The song took 15 minutes to complete and proved to be the most successful record of Wynette's career. It's also one of the most covered songs in the history of country music.

Speaking of country music, it was on this day in 1971, that John Denver first hit the charts with "Take Me Home Country Roads." It peaked at #2 on the Hot 100, but only #50 on the country chart.

Let's roll to this day in 1986, Tina Turner receives her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Here's one for you. Tina is in the Guinness Book of World Records as selling more concert tickets than any other solo performer.

And it was on this day in 2005, that Green Day cleaned up at the MTV awards held in Miami, winning seven awards including, Video of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
