Today is National One Hit Wonder Day!!! My personal favorite in this category comes from a band called the Vapors and the incredible "Turning Japanese."

On this day in 1973, The Allman Brothers release "Ramblin' Man." It would be the only song by the band to crack the top 10 on the Hot 100 peaking at #2.

On this day in 1980, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham dies at age 32 of asphyxiation from vomiting after a night of heavy drinking. He is rumored to have imbibed 40 shots in 4 hours. The band decides to break up instead of replacing him.

Queen made a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live,on this day in 1982, performing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Under Pressure."

And it was just last year, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers played their last concert. Tom Petty would pass away a week later. The show was the last stop on their 40th Anniversary tour.
