I was in band in my early years of school and my parents rented an instrument for me. I don't know how they did it but they always found a way to pay for all my extra curricular activities. I feel strongly that the arts need to be kept in our schools. I think music, choir, drama, art makes school so much more enjoyable, at least, it did for me. So when I read that Barry Manilow has just donated to one of our local high schools music department, my first thought was, "Wow! Love Barry even more now!"

The legendary singer/songwriter will be donating a Yamaha piano to launch a local music instrument drive at Jones High School all part of their Manilow Music Project.

Right now, anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument will receive two (2) free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations on a first-come, first-serve basis) for Manilow’s December 8 holiday performance, "A Very Barry Christmas" at Orlando’s Amway Center.

I really wish more artists would do things like the MMP.  In the end, it's what you did with your talent and how you gave back for being so blessed.

Barry Manilow not only writes the songs that make me and the whole world sing but his giving nature makes my heart sing too!  ~grace
