A full bottle of water could act like a magnifying lens on a sunny day.

Well you learn something every day don't you? This is the first I've ever heard of a full water bottle left in your car could start a fire? Wow. Really?

Fire officials warn that on hot sunny days "a full plastic bottle of water can act like a lens, focusing light into a high-energy beam that's intense enough to start a fire. Much like holding a magnifying glass on a sunny day can start a fire, the filled bottle of water does the same thing."

An Idaho power company shared a video of a water bottle burning two holes into a seat of a car. Holy smokes!

I leave water bottles in my car all the time and it never dawned on me that it could be a danger to my car or others. Lesson learned. I will drink the water and then toss the bottle on floor like I do everything else. I kid (sorta')!

Be careful out there!  ~grace
