If you're like most people, you can't wait to debut your new outfit right? Even if that means without washing it first. Well, after you read this article you, and I, will definitely being doing more laundry like real quick!

Scientists say that when you break down the number of people who have tried on that piece of clothing and it sits there for weeks or even months it has now it's fair share of, wait for it... fecal matter. UGH!

Philip Tierno, professor of microbiology and pathology at New York University. said “It’s not four or five or six people; it’s dozens and dozens ... if that garment sits there for weeks or a month."

Now grant it there are many factors involved but so far, studies have shown new clothes especially from a popular store will be covered in bacteria. Uh...gross.

In Tierno's study he tested items like blouses, pants, dresses, swimsuits, underwear, etc. from popular chain stores and high-end fashion businesses for bacteria and other germs left behind by shoppers that tried on the clothing.

Hold on, Tierno found the clothing with norovirus, bacteria including strep and staph, and even fecal germs. OMG!

Tierno said the three main ways we spread germs are from our skin, mouth and nose, and yes, the obvious culprit. the anus!

How many times have you been trying on clothes and end up touching your face, mouth, eyes or nose? Right? Well, with these heavy duty germs lurking we put ourselves at serious risk.

Another reason to wash new clothes (as if fecal matter wasn't enough to motivate you), many clothing items are also treated with chemical-finishing agents and dyes that can irritate the skin..

So the good scientist suggests the obvious, wash or dry-clean new clothes before wearing it.

And most importantly, wash your hands after trying on clothes!
